Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry

The Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B) graduate program is designed to prepare students for careers as independent investigators able to use and develop methods in molecular genetics, biochemistry, and structural biology. The faculty share a commitment to understanding biological problems at a molecular level. The diversity of faculty interests is reflected in the diversity of graduate students attracted to the program, with backgrounds ranging from biology and biochemistry to chemistry and physics.

student quote

"BBS acts as an umbrella program to bring together a number of biological fields, and it allows students to frequently interact with those in other programs, both academically and socially. I am in CBB, but have taken a number of classes through the MB&B department and have joined an MB&B lab. The friendly relationship between programs is great; if I get stuck on a problem that's not in my immediate field, I know who to ask for help. In addition, events like happy hour on science hill also contribute to a relaxed environment among friends and colleagues." - Kevin Keating, Computational Biology & Bioinformatics Track (with Kaury Eisenman, Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry Track)
