S.E.A.L. is an innovative education- and literacy-based
day camp that services the inner-city children of the
New Haven county areas. We travel on a daily basis to
different parts of Connecticut and other surrounding states
to visit zoos, museums, and other fun and educational

The
Middlesex Academy for the Performing Arts
announces its summer
programs. This year, the program includes a six-week musical
theater program, single week courses, and once-a-week
classes.The musical theater program, which was previously
part of The Independent Day School’s summer theater,
is now being run under the new Performing Arts Academy.
This summer’s show will be the musical “Bugsy
Malone,” and is open to students entering grades
4-11. It’s a thoroughly charming, irreverent showcase
for a cast of talented young performers, adapted from
a book by Alan Parker, with a catchy, honky-
tonk score by Paul Williams, one of the most popular songwriters
of the '70's and '80's. The six-week program includes
workshops in costumes, set design, lighting, and sound,
as well as a Lake Compounce trip. A technical theater
program is available for students who seek knowledge,
and skill development in the behind the scenes work in
Broadway theater. The technical students will run the

Mattatuck Museum: The
Mattatuck Museum is offering another summer of fun-filled
learning and exploration of the visual arts, theatre,
science and history, for kids ages 7 - 15 years old. Designed
with kids in mind, each specialty camp promises exciting
morning, afternoon or whole day experiences. Each week
has a specific theme, where creativity and fun are key
elements inviting experimentation with sculpting, painting,
portraiture, theatre arts, costume and mask making and

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, founded by Paul Newman
in 1988, is a nonprofit residential summer camp, an ingeniously
designed and dazzlingly equipped Wild West hideout in
northeastern Connecticut, where children with cancer and
other life-threatening illnesses do not have to sit on
the sidelines. More than 1,000 children between the ages
of seven and fifteen from across the country and abroad
attend each year, free of charge.
