Matching and Sorting

Children love to match and sort. Here are some simple game ideas to play with young children:

  • When folding clothes, ask a child to find a pair of socks that match.
  • Sort the food from the grocery bags as you organize it to put it away.
  • Put an assortment of coins out and ask a child to sort them by kind of coin.

Public Libraries offer great books and computer programs for kids involving matching and sorting. Ask a librarian. Your FREE library card from your local branch will let you take books from any library in Connecticut. Many have great children’s sections with toys, computers, storytimes and special events. They lend a variety of FREE and reduced-price passes to area museums, check your local branch for details.
