Neuro-Ophthalmology

Dr. Thomas J. Walsh performs Tangent Screen visual field testing to evaluate a patient’s visual field defect.

The Section on Neuro-Ophthalmology evaluates diseases of the central nervous system that affect the visual system. Other medical diseases, such as diabetes and thyroid disease that impact on the visual system, are also managed. Special testing techniques are available including visual fields, visual evoked response (VERs), and imaging studies such as CT, MRI, magnetic resonance angiography and ultrasound. The section works closely with Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology to offer multidisciplinary care for complex cases.
