Admissions and Financial Aid

Application for Fall 2009 will open August 17, 2009. The Deadline for applications is December 4, 2009. Applicants interested in the Physiology and Integrative Medical Biology Track should complete on-line the 2010 application for admission before December 4, 2009. The Graduate Education Committee of the department also acts as the Admissions Committee. Selected applicants will be invited to visit the Program in February 2010. Each student will be interviewed by at least four faculty affiliated with the Track. The final decision of the Admissions Committee will be based on a combination of the evaluations of the applicant's file and the personal interviews.

Application Policies and Procedures are set by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. We welcome applications from students with backgrounds in the biological and/or physical sciences. These include majors in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and psychology. Applicants should select in the online application "Biological and Biomedical Sciences" as the "Program of Study" and should specify Physiology and Integrative Medical Biology as a subfield or concentration.

The online application can accommodate most of the supplemental materials you will need such as letters of recommendations, writing samples/abstracts or others which may be required. Writing samples, abstracts, resumes, etc., can all be uploaded to your online application so there is no need to mail paper copies.

If one of your recommenders wishes to submit a paper recommendation you should provide him/her a copy of the recommendation form which is available from within the online application under "downloadable forms". This form includes the proper mailing address. You may also download a blank Recommendation Form here.

Transcripts must arrive in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. If circumstances require that you send them in, they must be delivered to us unopened with the signature of the registrar or stamp of the school across the sealed flap of the envelope. A Transcript Request Form is available from within the online application under "downloadable forms". If you use the Transcript Request Form from the online application, your information will be pre-populated. This form includes the proper mailing address. You will find additional application information here.

Full financial support, which includes an annual stipend and payment of tuition and health insurance is available to students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Funding for foreign students is extremely limited. Because only a few Yale fellowships are available for outstanding foreign students, foreign applicants are advised to apply for fellowships or other funding from their government or other agencies.
