The Field Guide to Comer Schools in Action
Summary

This long-awaited three-book collection published by Corwin Press offers a comprehensive guide to developmentally appropriate education and school leadership as pioneered by James Comer and the Yale School Development Program. Based on and expanded from field tested training materials, it is filled with ideas and guidelines for action that integrate theory and practice. All three volumes include diagrams, forms, checklists, reminder cards, sidebar features, and sample presentations for students, staff, and parents. Contributors include SDP Yale faculty and field consultants, as well as principals and school facilitators that have direct experience implementing the Comer Process of school reform.

Separate volumes cover school planning, leadership, and management, including an approach to systemic reform; curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development; and child development along physical, cognitive, psychological, language, social, and ethical pathways.

The complete set is a key resource for:

-all schools and districts using Comer principles to improve student learning and development

-school improvement and restructuring

-teacher education and educational administration courses
