Health Management
South Africa Foundation for Professional Development
The Advanced Health Management Program, which began in 2001, provides health care managers working in the field of HIV/
AIDS in South Africa with critical management skills through distance learning and workshops. The program is administered
by Yale’s Health Management Program and the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD).
In 2007–2008, the year–long program and qualification will serve 300 participants (out of an applicant pool of 1,000) and is being
offered in South Africa’s nine provinces.
Graduates from previous years have advanced to senior positions in their organizations, while others have found significant outside
funding for the projects they completed as course assignments. Demand for the program is growing as managers for NGOs
and the private sector seek to join the applicant pool.
