Alumna Honored as a ‘Rising Star’

Yale School of Public Health alumna Sarah Vidal received the Rising Star award from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.

Yale School of Public Health alumna Sarah Vidal, a product director for rheumatoid arthritis marketing at Hoffman-La Roche Inc., received the Rising Star award from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) at a reception in New York City on May 8.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to do work that so directly and positively impacts patients, and I’m deeply honored to be recognized for my work in this way, especially since others who have received the Rising Star award in the past are women I very much look up to and respect,” Vidal said.

The marketing team that Vidal works with is seeking to bring new rheumatoid arthritis medicine to market. Vidal initially joined Roche as a market analyst. Prior to that, she worked in various areas of health care, including management consulting. Vidal earned an M.P.H. from Yale University in 2000.

“We are extremely proud of Sarah. We applaud her for joining the other Roche women who have received this prestigious award. They inspire those around them and contribute tremendously to the success of our company,” said George Abercrombie, company president and CEO.

The Fairfield, N.J.-based HBA is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women in the pharmaceutical and health care industries. Its Rising Star program recognizes women whose accomplishments make a difference in the industry and inspire others.

“We all knew Sarah was on her way up when she left Yale in 2000. She is tremendously skilled, has a good heart, and makes Yale proud. She merges business and health care to be efficient, innovative, and humane at once, not easy in today’s health care marketplace,” said Elizabeth H. Bradley, Ph.D. and professor and director of the Health Management Program at the Yale School of Public Health.
