Connecting from Home of Off-Campus

The Yale University Library provides remote access to databases, electronic books and journals, and other electronic full-text information resources. Access is restricted to students, faculty, staff and affilitates of Yale University and the Yale-New Haven Medical Center. Authorized users may reach these resources through the Yale VPN or by using one of the proxy servers with their own Internet connection.

Connecting to a P Drive
Information on connecting to your P Drive from a laptop or from off-campus.

VPN (Virtual Private Networking)
The VPN service encrypts all traffic between your computer and the campus network, providing an extra measure of security. It is also required for all wireless connections in the Medical Center (including the School of Public Health). It also allows for access to restricted library resources, including electronic books and journals.

Medical Library Proxy Server
While VPN (described above) is the preferred way of connecting to restricted reousrces, the proxy server allows those affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine, Yale School of Public Health, Yale School of Nursing and Yale-New Haven Hospital to access restricted library resources including electronic books, electronic journals and databases from virtually any off-campus computer.
