Wireless and Wired Networking

All EPH students have access to the campus network via wireless, ethernet, and PPP (modem). Loaner wireless cards are available for EPH students that do not have one of their own.

Connecting to the Campus Network via Wireless

The Yale wireless network supports the 802.11b (wi-fi) standard. All wireless cards must be registered and configured to gain access to the network. All wireless users must use the VPN when accessing the wireless network in the Medical Center (inlcuding the School of Public Health).

Registering your Wireless Card

Yale School of Medicine and EPH students may use a laptop computer with their own wireless card on the Yale Wireless Network.
  1. One has to register the wireless card in order for the campus network to allow access.
  2. One has to download and use the VPN client in order to use the network. The VPN encrypts all traffic between your computer and the campus network. It also allows access to IP-restricted resources like electronic journals and databases.

EPH Students can get assistance configuring their wireless connections from Matt Wilcox, Director of Academic Technology (matthew.wilcox@yale.edu), or from the ITS Computing and Media Center. Click here for ITS-Med wireless service description and details.

Wireless Loaner Cards

EPH loans wireless cards to EPH students and EPH joint degree students when they are based at EPH. There is no cost for this service.
