HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program / Cloister

The HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program, also known as the Cloister Program, was established in 1985 to give outstanding students at U.S. medical schools the opportunity to receive research training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

How to Apply

Some application kits are available in the Office of Student Research.  Also, you may request that a kit be mailed to you or download the on-line version.  The on-line forms are available in both PDF and Word formats and can be filled out on-screen, printed, and mailed in subsequent to review and approval by the Office of Student Research.

Application Deadlines

  • December 7, 2007 - Deadline for submission to the Office of Student Research.
  • January 10, 2008 - tentative - Deadline for submission to HHMI.
