Mihaela Aslan, Ph.D., Clinical Epidemiology Research Center (CERC) Associate Director, is a graduate from the Department of Statistics at Yale University. She worked previously as a statistician for the Women's Health Research (WHR) Program at Yale. Her projects at WHR involved health assessment in women and gender differences in a variety of areas, including stress and major depression, substance abuse and brain function, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. While at WHR, she taught introductory courses to statistics and data analysis in the Statistics department and mentored graduate students in statistics for their practical work doctoral degree requirement. During the past six years, she also worked as a statistician at the West Haven Veteran’s Administration Cooperative Studies Program. Her projects at the VA involved health assessment in veterans with multiple sclerosis and analysis of clinical trials for veterans with Gulf War illnesses. She is also serving as a member of the Senior Management Group for the Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center (CSPCC), providing input on the design and implementation of statistical and data management systems for a variety of research studies.
