The Krause laboratory studies the engraftment of bone marrow derived cells as epithelial cells in the lung. Image is from the lung of a female mouse that had undergone bone marrow transplantation with male bone marrow. Green indicates cytokeratin, which is unique to epithelial cells. Blue indicates staining with CD45, unique to hematopoietic cells, and red is the signal for the Y chromosome, a marker of donor derived cells. There are no Y chromosome+ cytokeratin+ CD45- cells in this image. Some of the CD45+ cells have the Y chromosome.
