Restaurants in New Haven

New Haven has a very large number of good restaurants and it is almost impossible to list just a few since it generates such controversy here at the homefront when someone's favorite gets slighted. There are numerous listings that can be consulted on the web - one place to start is at InfoNewHaven. Choices range from small eateries with a lot of history (the hamburger is claimed to have been invented at Louie's Lunch and pizza - or apizza as they prefer here - at Sally's and Pepe's in the Wooster Square (Little Italy) section of the city) to what at least the NY Times claims are "destination" restaurants (such as Ibiza in the downtown area). Virtually all ethnic cuisines are represented. The listings below are roughly by neighborhood and are by no means comprehensive.
