Your contribution to the Associates will help to maintain the unique quality of the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library and expand its collection of printed and electronic resources.
The library's budget from the University and various endowment funds is devoted to staff, basic operational expenses, and keeping the electronic collections up-to-date. Additional funds are needed for special projects, electronic information, new books in the history of medicine, and other materials.
The Associates were organized in 1948 with the purpose of strengthening the library's holdings and making its services and rich historical resources available to health professionals throughout the state. Currently all members are granted stack access to the library book and journal collections and are invited to the annual meeting with a distinguished lecturer and reception. Associates also receive periodic mailings with information about the library and its acquisitions and new programs.
To contact the Associates' office, please call (203) 785-4354 or email Toby Appel (toby.appel@yale.edu). (The library also accepts donations of scholarly biomedical books, journals, and other materials for its collections.)
