Medical Education Software for Cardiology

Atlas of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (SPECT and Planar)
These multimedia atlases, developed at Yale, review new clinical techniques in nuclear cardiac perfusion imaging. Over 120 SPECT and Planar case presentations are available.

Breath Sounds
This program simulates normal and abnormal respiratory sounds.

Cardiac Auscultation
Designed to help medical students and residents prepare for the auscultatory portion of the cardiac exam, this program simulates eighteen distinct cardiac abnormalities.

Introduction to Cardiothoracic Imaging
This multimedia atlas, developed at Yale, provides a compreh ensive introduction to cardiothoracic imaging techniques including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), coronary angiography, mammography, chest radiography, echocardiography, SPECT and planar myocardial perfusion imaging, and lung ventilation and perfusion nuclear imaging.

Concise Imaging Atlas - Chest
Developed at Yale, this comprehensive collection of diagnostic images covers every cardiothoracic imaging modality, including radiography, magnetic resonance, computed tomography, coronary angiography, echocardiography, SPECT and planar perfusion imaging, nuclear cardiology, mammography, and visible human anatomic images. Each image is fully labeled.

Hyperheart
This multimedia program introduces the embryology, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and clinical diagnosis of the heart.

Interactive Electrocardiography (ECG)
Four educational modules cover the complexities of ECGs, while animations highlight key concepts. Users are able to compare normal and abnormal ECG results. Program also contains an atlas of ECG tracings and numerous self-tests.

Physiological Origins of Heart Sounds and Murmurs (Criley)
An interactive, complete multimedia program which integrates actual heart sounds and murmurs with dynamic ultrasound and X-ray motion picture images, graphic haemodynamic recordings, animated diagrams, gross pathology and text. This product is designed to provide physiological and functional anatomic correlates and explanations of normal and abnormal heart sounds and murmurs. Contents include general tutorials, timing of heartsounds, timing of murmurs and catalogue of lesions.
Headphones are available at the Circulation Desk for this program.

SimBioSys ECG
Illustrates fundamentals of 12-lead interpretation and rhythm recognition. Includes interactive tutorials, numerous quizzes and patient cases.

Valvular Diseases
Patients present with various ailments and symptoms. A multimedia display allows one to view xrays, ECG's, etc., to aid in diagnosis.

WebPath
The library has acquired an institutional site license for this web-based electronic resource from the University of Utah. This comprehensive version (much more inclusive than the freely available resource of the same name) include s over 3 100 images along with text, tutorials, laboratory exercises and over 2700 examination items, that demonstrate gross and microscopic pathologic findings associated with human disease conditions. Particularly strong in organ system pathology, including cardiovascular. Avai lable to Yale/YNHH community via the Medical Library's website, under Educational Software.
