If a book you are looking for is not available at the Medical Library, but is available in another library on campus, you can request the book to be delivered to the Medical Library Circulation Desk for you to pick up (a service known as "Eli Express"). This tutorial will demonstrate how to request the Eli Express service using the Orbis catalog.

You can easily access the Eli Express service from within Orbis. After you have located a book in Orbis and discovered that it is only available from another Yale Library, you can click on the "Place Request" button across the top of the Orbis record page to request the delivery service.

Place Request from Orbis

Then you are prompted to identify yourself. If you have a Yale NetID, you can click on the "Yale NetID Login" button to log in through the Yale CAS (Central Authentication Service) page. If you do not have a Yale NetID, please use your visitor barcode to log in.

Library Account Login

This is the "Place Request" menu page after you log in. To request a book to be delivered to your home library, select "Request Staff Search or Delivery" from the drop-down menu to the bottom of the page. The menu item also tells you how many items you can check out at this time.

Place Request Options

On the next page, you can select a pickup location for your book. In our example, we choose the Medical Library Circulation Desk. After you are done, click the "Submit Request" button to submit your request.

Select Pickup Location

The next screen will tell you that your request has been processed. In about one business day, you should hear from the Library via email that the items you requested are available for pickup.
