Cushing Papers in the Historical Library
Cushing/Whitney Medical Library
Yale University
The Harvey Williams Cushing Papers were donated to Yale University in 1939 and were housed in the Historical Library, Cushing/Whitney Medical Library. In the 1980s portions of the papers, especially the loose files of correspondence, were transferred to Manuscripts and Archives, Sterling Memorial Library. A finding aid was created by Diane Kaplan, "Harvey Williams Cushing Papers in the Yale University Library." Yale University. Manuscripts and Archives, Sterling Memorial Library and Medical Historical Library, 1992, which included materials remaining in the Historical Library (pp. 213-220). This finding aid is located on the Web at http://webtext.library.yale.edu/ Enter Cushing in the search box. The Cushing Papers as described in this finding aid were microfilmed. The Historical Library owns a complete set of the film. Reels may be requested through academic libraries through Interlibrary Loan.
The list below includes all of the Historical Library's materials found in the Manuscripts and Archives finding aid plus additional materials located in the Historical Library. Additional materials are generally not available on microfilm.
Numbers in parentheses refer to the shelf rank and number in the Cushing Room in the Historical Library. The numbering of numbering manuscripts follows the order found in the Manuscripts and Archives finding aid.
