- Configuring VPN on your iPhone
- VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows clients connecting from a non-Yale Internet Service Provider (ISP) to access services as if they are directly connected to the campus network. The VPN service encrypts all traffic between the client computer and the campus network, providing an extra measure of security, and will be required for all wireless devices to connect to the Yale network even when on campus. The following directions will walk you through configuring VPN on your iPhone:
- Tap the Settings icon on your iPhone.
- Tap General, then tap Network.
- Choose VPN, then turn VPN On.
- Tap IPSec and enter the following information (All settings are case-sensitive):
-
Description: yale wireless
-
Server: vpn.yale.edu
-
Account: type your Yale NetID
-
Password: type your Yale NetID password
-
Use Certificate: NO
-
Group Name: YSM_Wireless
-
Secret: ysmvpn
- Tap Save
- Tap On
- Note: If you receive an error: "unable to verify Certificate" (which has occurred in beta versions), tap Accept, then tap Next again.
