Preservation Librarian
The skills of a preservation librarian are needed to preserve for posterity the renowned collection of rare medical books and journals, manuscripts, pamphlets, prints, photographs and objects in the Medical Historical Library, as well as the general collections in the Medical Library. The Preservation Librarian analyzes the needs of the collections and designs appropriate treatments for items ranging from parchment to electronic media. The Librarian acts as an advocate for the collections and educates the Yale community about the need for preservation activities. (2 million)

System Support Staff
System Support staff support the academic, administrative and research needs of the Medical Library staff and the faculty, students and staff at the School of Medicine. This position provides a high level of assistance in desktop support services, public clusters and database management, and fosters research and development by exploring and implementing new technologies. This staff support
the mission of the School of Medicine by advancing knowledge through technology in an ever-changing environment. (2 million)

Curriculum Support Librarian
The Curriculum Support Librarian supports the use of technology in the curriculum of the School of Medicine. This position assists faculty in their use of learning management systems to deliver course material to medical students and Physician Associates online. The librarian provides instruction to teaching faculty and administrative staff in the use of Blackboard, a Web-based course management system, and works closely with faculty to identify new medical education software and digital resources to use in teaching. This position actively develops collections in both electronic and print formats that support student self-directed learning. (2 million)

Medical Digital Library
Endow the Medical Digital Library, the library’s own collection of unique materials digitized and available on the Web for scholarly research worldwide. Our goals are to expand access to the library’s unique collections for scholarly research and to manage the life cycle of digital objects. Funds are needed for servers, scanners and staff. ($500,000)
