Click on the Image to begin a JAVA applet that will allow you to test out your own artificial scotomas!
Once the demonstration is started, fixate the blue dot - when the gray box (the artificial scotoma) is presented, remain fixated and it should fill in with the background over a few seconds. The better you fixate, the better the effect.
Note that upon return to a gray screen, a fuzzy, whitish afterimage appears where the gray box used to be.
Controlling the Demo: You can position the gray box (of the JAVA
demo) to anywhere in the screen by clicking on it and dragging it to a
new location.
You can change different parameters of the simulation by entering new
values in the control screen and pressing enter.
