Scientific Basis of Neurological Disease One of the most appealing factors
in drawing individuals into a career in academic neurology is the
possibility of making a discovery that will have a major impact on
large numbers of patients, and change the way that neurology is
practiced for years to come. This is the goal of research in the
basic science laboratories of the Yale University Department of
Neurology . There are numerous laboratories that use many
different approaches to understand the neurobiology of disease.
Most of these laboratories welcome postdoctoral fellows, students and
visiting scientists. Information can be found about each laboratory
within our department by visiting the page on faculty research interests: A more detailed description of the
interests of our neurology faculty is also published in PDF format: To learn more about the wide variety of
basic
neuroscience research performed within the larger scientific community
at Yale University,
including many faculty based outside our department, follow the
"Faculty" link on the website for the PhD Graduate Training Program in
Neuroscience: Within the Department of Neurology, and
based at
the VA Medical Center in the neighboring town of West Haven, several of
our faculty members perform cutting edge research on Spinal Cord
Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, and Neuropathic Pain, at the:
