Biographical Sketch

Dr. Joseph M. Piepmeier is the vice chairman for clinical affairs and holds the rank of Nixdorf/German Professor of Neurosurgery. He served as the Chairman for the Joint Section on Tumors for the AANS/CNS, President of the Connecticut Neurosurgery Society and President of the Neurosurgical Society of America. In addition, he is a member of the Editorial Board of Neurosurgery and the past Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Neuro-oncology. Dr. Piepmeier is a recipient of the Allied Services Award, the Wakeman Award for work in clinical neurosurgery and the Bittner lecture for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. The primary focus of Dr. Piepmeier's clinical and laboratory work is neuro-oncology. He serves as the Section Chief of Neuro-oncology and is a member of the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center.
