Office for Women in Medicine

 

Yale is unique among American medical schools in having an office that serves as a focal point for  women from all sectors of the School of Medicine.

Our Mission:

To promote the academic growth of women in medicine and medical sciences.

  • Provides women students, trainees, fellows and faculty access to advisors and mentors.
  • Brings distinguished women in the medical sciences to Yale School of Medicine as role models and mentors.
  • Facilitates access for students to professional women in both a structured or an informal setting.
  • Sponsors workshops and seminars on professional development and career opportunities for women in medicine and the sciences.
  • Serves as a focus for the discussion and resolution of issues of interest to the Yale Medical School community.

Yale Events:

New Faculty Orientation

Faculty are invited to attend one of the 3 Orientation Sessions being held in the Beaumont Room, Sterling Hall of Medicine (9-11am) on:

Ladder Faculty
Tuesday September 2nd and Friday September 12th

Research Faculty
Friday Septemeber 12th

At these sessions Dean Robert J. Alpern will be presenting an overview of the School, and other members of the faculty and administration will provide information about the Offices of Academic and Faculty Affairs, Ombudsperson, Academic Computing and Media Services, Grant and Contract Administration, Responsible Conduct of Research, Scientific Affairs and Women in Medicine. We also will provide support materials that will assist you as you begin to work in your new positions. Following the formal presentations, there will be time for questions and answers. At the conclusion of each session, there will be an optional guided tour of the Medical Library.

In addition to serving as a source of information and a forum for answering your questions the Yale Media Department will be providing at no departmental charge a professional photo session
