Education1991, M.D., Ph.D., Cornell University Medical College and the Sloan-Kettering Institute, New York, NY Research InterestMy laboratory studies the role of neurotrophic growth factors in diseases of the adult brain and the mechanisms by which they act. Alterations in these factors and their intracellular signaling pathways may play an important role in the changes seen in midbrain dopaminergic systems in drug addiction and drug-induced movement abnormalities. Our studies have focused on a particular class of neurotrophic factors, the neurotrophins, and their receptors, called Trks. Other factors that modulate dopaminergic neurons are also under investigation in the brain and in vitro systems. Laboratory PersonnelTeige Sheehan, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow Achievements and Honors
