Rodent Quality Assurance Monitoring Program

The purpose of the Rodent Quality Assurance (QA) Program at Yale University is to protect the rodent colonies at this institution from inadvertent infection with pathogenic organisms. To accomplish this it consists of the following components:

Health monitoring of rodent colonies at Yale University
- Sentinel Program
Quarantine of rodents from non-commercial sources
- Importation of Rodents
- Request to Introduce Rodents (on-line form)
- Quarantine
Exportation of rodents to other institutions
- Request to Export Rodents (on-line form)
Monitoring of relocations of rodents within Yale University
- Request to Relocate Rodents (on-line form)
Vendor surveillance
Prevention of Transmission
Microbiological monitoring of equipment and supplies
Testing of cell lines or other biological material of rodent origin

The YARC QA program is managed through the Comprehensive Rodent Service
