Student Government and Committees
In addition to traditional bodies of student governance such as the Medical Student Council, medical students at Yale are offered several unique forums through which they can serve to address the particular issues with which they are faced. Yale's administration is extraordinarily sensitive to student concerns. Accordingly, students sit on several committees run under the auspices of the Office of Faculty Affairs. Elections for most seats are run by the Medical Student Council and are held in the Spring (or in the Fall for first year representatives).

Special Interest Groups and Academic Journals
It seems at times that Yale makes a special point of filling its classes with energetic and active students whose interests vary within and can fall well outside the narrow realm of medicine. The relatively small student body already fields an impressive number of specialized interest groups and new groups are created every year. Funding can often be obtained from the Medical Student Council or the Office of Student Affairs.
