About Y-Axis
In existence in various forms since 1997, with the help of the Office of Student Affairs, Y-Axis leads an effort to create an advanced resource center for YSM student technology needs.
The YSM student technology room, which has recently moved to Harkness 1017, is designed for Y-Axis projects, MSC Blueprint, and the 2nd Year Show video editing. With the recent increase in availability of computing and video-processing power elsewhere, Y-Axis has increased its focus on bringing YSM's online presence into the 21st century.
As a YSM organization, Y-Axis has four broad goals:
Constantly improve the Y-Axis site so that it is a quality web resource for Yale medical students.
Offer free web clinics that will train future Y-Axis team members and site editors.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of webpages for Yale Medical Student Organizations on the Y-Axis directory. Some groups that Y-Axis has helped assist are the Student Tours Program, Hunger and Homelessness Auction, Students Helping Students, Community and the Well-Being of Students, and the Yale Friends of the Red Cross.
Accept pro bono public service web projects or consultation services from the greater New Haven area in an effort to help bridge the technology divide.
The current incarnation of the Y-Axis website was conceived, designed, and implemented by Silas Wang '06. ITS-Med provides our web and database hosting.
