Resources for Applicants

Congratulations on being accepted to the Yale School of Medicine! If you've come this far, chances are you've probably gotten acceptance letters from several other highly selective schools in recent weeks, and you may be wondering how to decide where to spend the next four years of your life. Location? Financial aid? US News rankings? We hope that attending our second-look weekend this April 26-27th will help to convince you that Yale is far and away the best place for you to learn the practice of medicine, and to stay enviably sane in the process!

The Phagocytes/Gay-Straight Medical Alliance (GSMA) will be on hand throughout second-look weekend to answer your most burning questions. Come talk to us about anything—from support for gay students at Yale to the queer scene in New Haven to Dean Angoff’s incredible fashion sense.

After you've gotten all your questions answered, be sure to stick around on Friday night. We'll be hosting a welcome dinner/mixer at Miya's Japanese Restaurant, where you will get an exclusive chance to mix and mingle with LGBT medical students and faculty and learn what makes Yale Medical School such a unique place. UPDATE: The dinner will be held at 7:30, after the conclusion of all second-look activities.

You should have received a housing form from the Admissions Office with the option of choosing a host from the Phagocytes for your stay during second-look. However, if for some reason you did not and you would like to be paired with a Phagocyte, please send us an email.
