59 Yale Physicians Named Among the Best in 2000 Edition of How to Find the Best Doctors: New York Metro Area

Fifty-nine Yale School of Medicine physicians were named among the best in the 2000 edition of How To Find the Best Doctors: New York Metro Area. The Guide, published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd, includes physicians in major specialties practicing in communities surrounding New York City including adjacent counties in New Jersey and Long Island as well as Westchester and Fairfield counties. Given Yale's role as a major referral center for the entire region, Yale physicians were recognized in 32 different medical and surgical specialties. The list of "best doctors" is drawn from nominations from 20,000 physicians, nurses and health care providers in the region who were asked: "To whom would you send a family member?" This year, Yale physicians were recognized for the first time in the specialties of anesthesiology, hand surgery, infectious diseases, maternal and fetal medicine, pediatric infectious diseases, sports medicine and therapeutic radiology.
