Incubation Period
Incubation period is usually 14-16 days; some cases occur as early as 10 or as late as 21 days after exposure. An individual is most contagious 1-2 days before the onset of the rash. However, the period of infectivity can last as long as 6 days after the onset of lesions and in immunocompromised patients throughout the period of eruption of new lesions.
