Inpatient Control Measures
Usage and Control of Antibiotics
The inappropriate or excessive use of all antibiotics should be discouraged as almost all classes of antibiotics have been implicated as a risk factor for VRE. In particular, the use of vancomycin and third generation cephalosporins should be limited.
