Outpatient Control Measures
VRE colonized/infected patients should be identified through the patient's medical record. If at all possible, dedicate a room in the clinic to see the patient. Contact Precautions as delineated above should be used in the care of the patient. Disposable equipment should be used whenever feasible. Common equipment must be disinfected with an EPA-approved disinfectant after use. The room should be terminally cleaned after the visit with special attention given to surfaces with which the patient has had contact.
