Able to Follow Directions & Infection Control Procedures

MRSA Yes nares/skin only 1
Yes prior history or sites have healed (no nares cultures) 1
Yes intact skin lesion or wound contained by a simple dressing 1
Yes sputum, NO cough 1
Yes urine & continent 1
 
Yes skin lesion or wound NOT contained by simple dressing 2
Yes sputum AND cough 2
Yes urine AND incontinent 2
No any site or prior history 3
 
VRE Yes perirectal/rectal/stool colonization 1
Yes prior history or sites have healed (no known perirectal/rectal/stool cultures) 1
Yes intact skin lesion or wound contained by a simple dressing 1
Yes sputum, NO cough 1
Yes urine & continent 1
 
Yes skin lesion or wound NOT contained by simple dressing 2
Yes sputum AND cough 2
Yes urine AND incontinent 2
No any site or prior history 3
 
VRE & MRSA Yes Use VRE level 1 or 2 depending on above conditions
No any site or prior history VRE
 
Other Resistant Organisms Examples include resistant Acinetobacter, resistant Enterobacter, etc.
